PANACHE ADELAIDE FRENCH THEATRE
QUESTIONS DE FAMILLE
MAY 3-5 - STAR THEATRE 2
Panache has much pleasure in presenting a lively and entertaining triple bill, three plays which share the common theme of family life. In Souvenir (J-M Ribes), visitors to an art gallery are reminded that we can all trace our ancestry back to the first aquatic creatures who left the water for a terrestrial existence. Perhaps we have come too far, and need to return to our watery origins! In Tragédie, also by J-M Ribes, the problems in-laws can cause are dealt with in a dramatic and amusing one-act play. Can this marriage survive a declamatory sister-in-law as a tragic heroine? In La Grammaire (E Labiche), family ties and affection are to the fore and, in the end, win the day over all other considerations, even the necessity of making one’s participles agree, or the possibility of Roman pottery lying hidden at the bottom of the garden.
As usual, our performances, in French, will be supported by subtitles in English. After the splendours of the French Film Festival, why not come along and enjoy the intellectual and cultural stimulation which French theatre has to offer as well?
